2 hour “Fire Safety in the Workplace” Course content – Attendees will learn about the nature of fire, the nature of human behaviour, fire hazards & risk reduction, fire safety & prevention at work and actions in the event of fire. 2 hour “Safe and Proper use of Fire Extinguishers“ Course content – Attendees will learn about the requirements for firefighting equipment, different classes of fire, different types of fire extinguisher, their application and firefighting. Who should attend – Anyone who whilst in your employment is required to use portable firefighting equipment, under Regulation 12 of the Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006. | ![]() |
1 day “Fire Marshal“ Course content – This builds on the 2 previous courses and will see attendees learn about the duties of a Fire marshal, fire safety inspections, actions on discovering a fire, actions on hearing the alarm, time taken to evacuate (RSET/ASET), vulnerable occupants and evacuation strategies. Who should attend – Anyone you have nominated to supervise the emergency evacuation and assist with undertaking fire safety measures, to ensure you comply with Regulation 17 of the Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006. | ![]() |
2 day “Managing Fire Safety” Course content – This encompasses all of the previous courses, with an additional day where attendees will learn about legislation, the role of the fire safety manager, Fire Risk Assessment, fire safety policy, routine maintenance, testing & inspection, documentation & record keeping, controlling contractors, liaising with Fire & Rescue Authorities and reducing Unwanted Fire Alarm Signals. Who should attend – Anyone with responsibility for the management of fire safety. Anyone who is a duty holder under Section 53 of the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005, with a responsibility for the safety of employees from harm caused by fire in the workplace. | ![]() |
2 hour “Manual Handling” Course content – This course examines what manual handling is and the associated risks in the workplace. We look at the anatomy of the human spine and risks of injury, and how good lifting, handling and storage can help reduce workplace accidents, injuries and absence. Who should attend – Anyone who in their course of work has to lift, carry, move, load or store heavy or bulky items, to ensure you comply with Regulation 4 of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 | ![]() |
